[urq] Pre-Ignition Problems with early urq

Dear AudiFans:

My 83 urq has started pinging under very low levels of
boost.  Can anyone help.

1)  It may be a fuel problem but I would assume it was
not as it has a fairly fresh tank of 91 octane.

2)  I replaced the hose from the intake manifold to
the computer at first glance it appeared to be leaking
at the "y" to the boost gauge.

3)  I checked the hoses from the manifold to the fuel
pressure regulator, they seem fine.

4)  I checked the full throttle switch and it seems
OK.

5)  I changed out the computer as I have a spare.

6)  It would appear that the advance /retard function
of the ignition is not working.  The system seems to
be at full advance.  In fact the engine seems very
powerful under low throttle settings until the boost
starts and then it pings very badly.

The car is undrivable until this is repaired.  I need
help?
