[urq] Re: Audi's Future (long)

Don't forget the electronic controlled ignition system. State of the art
during it's day, I know that the cost for the MAC 02 new is like $1500,
used, around $600 (from Dad's Audi recycling...).

Add the cost of the turbo new....around say $1000, with an all aluminum
intercooler...say $900, wastegate $500, and unique piston set...(7:1
compression...), not used by any other model... say additional $4000 and
your looking at close to 8 grand.

This does bring me to another question....

Why did Audi wait till late the 80's to early 90's to implement EFI, since
Porsche, Volvo , and BMW (I think..) were using it as early as 83..?

(My theory: The cost of EFI would brought price of the entire Audi line out
of reach for the intended selling audience...? Anyone have any other
theories on this???)
