... the thing you need to be careful about is that some of these FP Relays
have rev limiters built in ... and some of these were counting on there
being only 4 firing events per two engine revolutions. There have been a
lot of folks with 5-cylinder non-turbo Audis who have mistakenly swapped in
a 4-cyl FP Relay and started having problems with the engine cutting out at
some bizzarro low RPM ...

I believe this was done to bypass the ECU control over the fuel
pump. So long as the coil sends a signal to to the relay the
fuel pump runs.....
The correct fuel pump relay was only $15 Cdn at the stealer, I
still haven't recovered........
