Paul -
I think we should keep the date at Sept 11/12. I know I and several
others have already dedicated that weekend for the GTG.
If lots of others disagree, fine, but I think that we're close enough now
that we should keep the plans set.
I don't think the issue w/ most of the California/PNW guys is the timing so
much as the distance. I know I will certainly enjoy catching up with and
meeting those few who are making the effort.
I personally think a pre-arranged group rate would be great. Something
along the lines of a Super 8 or Motel 6 works for me....
As for the Colorado crew, looks like we'll have at least 6 cars in caravan,
complete with radar detectors and two-way radios. We'll probably take a
combination of highway and scenic/fun roads...
-looking forward to Sept 11/12 in Park City - just need to address a few
minor things on the car betwen now and then....
The agenda looks great to me!
Brandon

Dear Q-Listers,
One Month left until the Park City UrQ meet....
We've had quite a lot of discussion this past week or so here..Super. I
think we've got 10 interested parties.
If I moved the date back a week to 18th & 19th September would that
garner more interest from the CA team? I cannot bring the date forward
due to business travel commitments. Sorry!
Can I have a head count, please e-mail me "paul.lethbridge at
ansys.com".
I need to know your current status and what assistance you need with
locating accommodation.
Would you like me to find a group rate at a local hotel, or are you
happy to go your own way?
I'll also need to make the restaurant reservations soon.
Here's the plan:
Where: Park City, Utah.
Date: 11th - 12th September, 2004 (Could be moved....you decide...see
above)
AGENDA:
*** Saturday 11th ***
10.30 am - 1.00 pm : Welcome - Rendezvous at Kimball Junction, Newpark.
Close to I-80, ample parking, proximity to food establishments!
Hang out, tire kick, sell, trade some parts!
3.00 pm - 5.00 pm : Optional Group Drive.
Scenic canyon descent into Salt Lake City. A sneak peak at Temple
square...
Returns to Park City via I-80.
6.00 pm : Dinner in Park City.
Possibly a tech. quiz. & awards (low budget fun)!
*** Sunday 12th ***
9.00 am - 11.30 am : Breakfast meet. At the renowned local "No Worries".
12.00 am - 2.45 pm : Group Drive to Emigration Canyon/East Canyon
reservoir.
Approx. 2 hr round trip. Picnic lunch at reservoir beach!
Yes, you can swim if you want to.
(Optional gravel road parallel route!)
3 pm - ??? : Scalextric Slot Car racing at Paul's place!
???? - whenever...If you are staying another night..how about some
cocktails?
***************
Hotels & Motels:
I've called a few local hotels and all are willing to provide a car club
meet some discount. With the Ski season done rates are pretty
reasonable, expect something like $50 - $60 per night. You can also camp
in the Wasatch wilderness or crash on my floor!
***************
Kind regards,
Paul.
