[urq] urq/coupe window mechanisms

Hello All:
I've just been messing around with a similar problem. A 4K window mechanisim
is NOT the same, even though it looks so.
THe track has a bit of a different 'curve' to it, to match the coupe window
'curve, and the lower foot is mounted at a slightly different angle, and the
holes in the part that move up and down don't line up the same. Yes, you can
fit in a 4k mechanism sort of. I did, and had exactly the same problems that
daniel had.
Also be aware that Audi changed the position of the motor relative to the
track somewhere in life, so even if you have a 'coupe' track assembly, you
have the motor hanging in space inside the door. I have seen a template
somewhere that you put over the original holes, to show where to drill holes
to make a 'new' assembly mount up. (Does anyone have a link to this
template?)
Conversely, I spent two evenings trying to get a 'coupe' mechanism work in my
4K (the motor had died). After wondering why it was so wrong and not working
at all (the window would jam every time, if it didn't first fall off the
track!), I matched the coupe mechanism up to the 4K mechanism.
Sure enough, just a little bit different!! But just enough to make it a BIG
problem. I ended up rewinding the cable back on the drum, and swapping th
motor over, at the same time greasing up the innards. With the proper
mechanism, I was back in business in 15 minutes, compared to two days messing
around with the wrong one.
I hope that will help you out with YOUR pain a bit!
Regards,
