[urq] RE: urq Digest, Vol 10, Issue 15 Arp and water cooling intercoolers

When I get to the office, I will check
on how I get ETKA to run on Win2000Pro

regarding Bennet's comments about the 951;
for us snobs, that is the 944 turbo,
a great car for the bucks, NASA has a separate
racing class for these cars, see
http://www.europeancarweb.com/projectcars/0310ec_proj951/
for introduction.

The ultimate is the Porsche 968RS, quite rare, but the ultimate
upgrade for front engined, rear drive Porsche power.

ARP actually automotive racing products
can be found at www.summitracing.com
(my favorite one-stop location)
or http://www.arp-bolts.com/index.html

Another provider is raceware:
http://www.raceware-fasteners.com/prod03.htm

as far as Bill Bennett's personal expletive
writing and hot-rod son's capability to create boost in
street conditions, I admire his testing skills, but
track events are more cumulative than his son's
street driving skills, so the magnitude of heat soak changes.
Champion had a major intercooler on their winning S4's feed by a huge
tank in the trunk, and the current RS6 that Randy
and Michael race has an intercooler fan also. So all this
stuff works, the limitation is the amount of water available.

Phil

If it is XP.The answer is YES I have EKTA and ETOS both loaded on my
machine and they work fine.

So last weekend I put a Spal fan on my Son's 4000 CSQT, we were kinda
impressed because intercooler outlet temps dropped slowly with the car
stopped. Today during the airshow with The Blue Angels flying over our
home,
Tony rerouted his people squirter jet down to his intercooler and
installed
a mister nozzle provided by me to spray on the outside of the
intercooler.
MAN! talk about intake temps falling fast! We went for a rather spirited
drive, the temperature drop was amazing, back to within ambient +5
degrees
in ten seconds (ambient was 84) and under boost never over 104 outlet
temp!
If you doubt my son's ability to keep a car under boost, ask
urquattro at comcast Bill

Hey guys, another question from a guy with a recently-added UrQ to the
stable.

Running gear is top notch 1990 MC2 conversion.

The car has developed a random cut-out recently, especially in the
vegas
heat.

It acts purely like a fuel related cut, but its not RPM dependant or
boost
related.

Hell, Im not even sure it aint just good ol vapor lock. (injector
cooling
fan IS operable)

The fuel pump is relayed and gets direct power from the battery.

The car sat for several months before I picked it up a few weeks ago and
the
owner added some super whamadyne fuel system cleaner to the gas before I
got
it, he said he only ran a tank of gas thru it so far. He warned me that
it
was going to need a set of fuel filters within the next couple tanks - I

replaced them as soon as I got the car to Vegas ( i ran 3 tanks thru it
on the
drive).

The car has excellent vacuum - no leaks.

The fuel pump is a bit noisey, but not like its about to die - however
every
once in a while I hear what sounds like cavitation at the pump. Is
this a
definite sign of a pad pump? Is there a pickup in the tank that could
be
clogged ( and is it serviceable ) ?

Thanks again, and open to suggestions.

The car I just got is noted to have clutch components from a '90 200
(actually the whole drivetrain) but it seems a bit noisey - almost
embarassing to
listen to at a stop light - it also makes quite a raucus in between
shifts.

Is there a better clutch setup to go with for this combo?

Can I just replace the disk with an UrQ unit and use the rest of the 200

components?

Bill,

Likely Raceware engineering stud kit. Should also be available for our
cars. Very popular with the high HP crowd.

Hey Ho! I'd sure like to know - this too..I have had several copies from
various sources and not been able to get running on XP or NT(4.0). Get
a hardlock error, but can never find the elusive file/.dll? that needs
to be executed and any surefire procedure on what steps exactly to
intstall it.

I might have been able to figure it out if I spent enough time, but I
figures the 4-5 hours was enough, and then I had better things to do
with my time.

Would be nice to get it running.
