Well, a few weeks ago I started my quest towards registering my UrQ here in
Nevada.
Step one: Emissions - FAILED
Previous owner had the thing whacked out of adjustment trying to
find/compensate for a vacuum leak when he started getting it ready to sell. Combine
that with the difference in altitude from Denver to Vegas.
***Here are the initial results:
Nevada state emissions test: FAILED HC
Engine speed: 2500 rpm HC ppm allowable: 220 Acutal reading: 388
Engine Speed: 800 rpm HC ppm allowable: 220 Actual reading: 308
CO% limits were 1.20% for both engine speeds, readings were .52% and .64%
respectively.
***Here are the results after a new set of plugs and a proper multimeter to
set the "dwell":
Nevada state emissions test: PASSED
Engine speed: 2500 rpm HC ppm allowable: 220 Acutal reading: 85
Engine Speed: 800 rpm HC ppm allowable: 220 Actual reading: 98
CO% limits were 1.20% for both engine speeds, readings were .36% and .11%
respectively.
Anyway, thanks to all that offered advice - the car is running great! I
still dont know if the CAT is intact but it sounds too quiet to be hollow. One
of my projects for the car will be replacing the Stebro front pipe with a
custom pipe getting rid of both the CAT and the 1st muffler. I wanna hear this
thing SING !
