[urq] Backfires

Early morning a couple of days ago I was walking across our parking lot
and a fellow with an 48 Chevy PU was driving through. He waited until he
was right beside me.
His motor coughed, and spit out a flame about 4 feet in the back. Scared
the bejesus out of me, he's installed a cutout on his coil and also a
plug in his tail pipe. The gas doesn't get burnt and goes through the
tailpipe and he fires it up again. Says it's good for tailgaters-really
good at night.
 
Can't imagine what it's doing to the rest of his exhaust system, not
mention his motor. But I would have to admit I wouldn't want to follow
too closely.
