I don't get it, why is anyone willing to buy something mail order, that
they can get down the street at any common exhaust shop?
Unless you are headed for a performance exhaust I can't see the reason
to ship something like this anywhere. I've owned my UrQ for a little
over 10 years and it's needing it's second rear muffler right now, they
have all rusted at exactly the same place on the bottom of the muffler.
I've gone through tons of sets of rubber hangers which makes me very
upset but I can deal with a $1 dounuts. My muffler isn't anything that
couldn't and hasn't been able to be replaced locally.
In that I'm converting to an AAN motor this coming spring I'm
researching a 3" Stainless system for my car.
At semi-performance exhaust system shops in my area (Portland, Ore) I'm
getting prices of $600-700 for a complete system, including making a new
3" downpipe, cat, and complete to the tailpipe. None of the shops I have
contacted have the capacity to do Mandrel Bending.
Now I'm not really thinking I'll actually get a complete flange to
tailpipe system for $600, but I've been in contact with other owners
that have cat back systems from Stan's in the Seattle, Wa area for $750
for a mandrel bent SS system.
But it's pretty interesting that the original system for the 10V has
only needed 2 mufflers in the 230,000 miles and 10+ years I've owned it.
In that I'm keeping the car for the next 10 years, I'll go SS.
