[urq] What about push starting a urq that doesn't want to start on a cold day?

I'd been reading eric and andrew b's posts concerning
nervous moments away from home and a urq that doesn't
want to start in the cold.  I'm  nervous year-round
about my urq starting so I always carry a tow rope.  I
figure with millions of chevy suburbans on the road -
if I just sit by the side of the road with that tow
hook just begging for a 2 ton 4x4 someone will be
happy to help me out.  My car is off the road for
winter but shouldn't a urq with some problems most
likely start if you have someone willing to pull you
for a mile?  
I'm not looking to ignore problems  - but for now I
get a little comfort - maybe just imagined - because I
have the tow rope.  I'd even ask a tow truck to try
push start me (pull with rope - no need for body
damage) instead just getting a tow to Firestone.
