Good fortune for you !! mine had the rubber boot ripped and would not
hold vacuum. Billy b has said some Mercedes door lock vac actuators
could work.....after replacing my 20V door lock actuator I think that
many of these actuators could work with little modification....door lock
actuator had a torn boot also......anyone know of generic rubber boots
available in misc. sizes ???

Subject: [urq] Vacuum Motor Failure and Fix.....

Hi gang,
In prepping my Ur-q for some spirited Ice Capades in Colorado, I
found that the vacuum motor (actuator) was not working on the rear diff.
Not being able to find a replacement on Sunday (yards are closed). My
friend, Bill Fluhr, decided to delve in and see how the thing worked. I
thought that I might have a leaky rubber diaphragm. I had previously
replaced the front motor with a junk yard pull from a 4k, so the old one
was lying on my workbench. When it was opened, we found that the
diaphragm was intact, but the leak was caused by a small crack in the
plastic housing. This was easily repaired with some epoxy on both sides
of the crack. I took the other motor off of the rear diff, and it had
exactly the same thin crack, same place, same failure, same fix....the
rubber diaphragm was soft and supple. The housings of the actuator are
a snap together fit. It took some man-handling to get them apart, but
it can be done with a flat blade screwdriver and patience. Both repairs
now hold vacuum on both sides.....Just gotta go check that front
actuator I replaced last year....

Hope that helps someone else.....

Justin Riley
