[urq] horn

Definitely not IMO/E ... chances are that one of your horns are not working.
Audi horns are usually quite substantial, and have more of an "american car"
quality than a "euro" or "japanese" one. I forget if it is the low or high
unit that fails, but when one does the car starts to sound more like a model
T (which I suppose *is* american ... :)

The horns on all my Audis ... from the Fox to the V8s are all the same Mixo
(sp?) units ... definitely compatible. They are actually available in the
aftermarket brand new for a fairly reasonable price.

I think the typical failure mechanism is that the mouths of the horns are
angled toward the front of the car. While this probably sends most of the
sound energy forward where you want it, it means that water and
contamination are more likely to get driven to the electric mechanism and
cause deterioration. What I do is to angle the horns so that the mouths
don't point directly forward ... who knows if that really makes any
difference ...
