[urq] early fusebox pinout?

Hi Mike,

Do you have a Bentley wiring diagram?

It is SO much easier with the diagram, even an amateur like me was able to
complete the job.
I guess you don't have it since each terminal alphanumeric designation is
there in case you need to know what connects where.

The big terminals you are talking about are the H terminals (5 big ones, 2
small) and they are all connected together internally. I think they are the
entry points for the current to the fuse box. Don't worry which is which, it
doesn't matter.

But pay attention to the plastic square connector's contacts: if a pin was
burned at the fuse box, then the corresponding pin will be burned in the
corresponding connector. In my case, D3, E2 and D16 were burned. These are
the pins for defrost and fuel-pump/ECU/Coil I think. I was able to replace
the pins in the square connectors (not easily) to make a good contact, and I
relayed each circuit near the actual component (under the rear seats). That
way, the fuse box does not carry these high loads anymore.

More, I relayed the front headlights with 4 relays, no less.

Finally, I bypassed the fuse box for the engine cooling fan: I installed an
individual fuse holder between the wires going formerly to the fuse #15 so
the high current for the fan doesn't heat the fuse box anymore.

All in all, not an easy job but it is worth every cent now.
And I think it is a lot easier than switching for the under hood variety.

But many listers with experience with this swap can chime in and tell you
the opposite... :-)

Anyone have any information? Specifically, I'm trying to find out what
connects to which big spade connector on the back of the early style box.

man...anyone else have the desire to just take the whole car apart and
rewire it from scratch, or is it just me?

-Cheers!
Mike
