Today I went to the wrecker
and bought the six speed gearbox .
Here's some preliminary data :
Gearbox code CBL , Sr Nr 23788, six speed
Distance between front wheel drive shaft flanges :
264 mm
Distance from engine mating surface to end flange
824.5 mm
Compared to a 016 gearbox .
This is a gearbox from a 200TQ .I never had the original
ur-q box .
Dist between front wheel drive shafts 276 mm , 12 mm longer
Dist between engine and end flange : 840 mm , 15.5 mm longer .
I'll probably manufacture some "shims" to adjust this .
Other stuff :
I'll need the flywheel , clutch and pressure plate from an
AAN or similar engine .
This is because the gearboxes main drive shaft is different .
The six speed is thicker and shorter .
The FDR of the ur-q is 35/9 .
This box has a 37/9 .
So I'll need the rear diff of an early audi 80 quattro .
It has thesame cast housing , but with the 37/9 ratio.
Or put another pinion ring gear combination in my rear diff .
I'lll keep you all posted of progress /problems .
This is a long term project , so don't expect results
to soon .
Does anyone have a teeth count of the early ur-q boxes gear ratio's ?
Mine was an UG gearbox .
I only have the third , fourth and fifth gear on the etka . .
I'd like to have the fisrt and second
Thx
Pat
