[urq] urq antenna substitute?

Hi gang,

Anybody find a suitable substitute antenna for the urq?  My urq originally 
had a Bosch amplified whip, but the amplifier died and reception was very 
bad, so I replaced it with the amplified Fuba used in the Coupe GT which 
worked great.  Now some S.O.B. in my neighborhood has broken the whip off 
my urq for the second time (must be urq-envy!).  These whips cost near $50 
now and because of the spare tire, the short power Fuba (retracting whip) 
doesn't fit.  Anybody try a glass mounted antenna?

I'm thinking of machining a brass rod that fits in the Fuba housing with a 
threaded stud on the end that will take the short screw on Fuba whip from 
later models.  Then I could unscrew the whip and they're easily replaced.
