god, such great prices for good shocks. i'm looking at $1000+
in parts to do up my motorcycle with ohlins, now that 12k miles have
gone by which is the median number of miles that the stock showas seem
to last for anyone.

AFAICT the stock sport-package shocks on my A4 are doing well
enough after 48k. i do need to get the sucker down to new dimensions
for a service interval as well as getting the updated APR chip programs.
looking forward to being able to change modes.

oh BTW, a follow up on my punctured hakka-q. les schwab no
longer carries nokain tires, but sourced a full new set for my car
to honor their warranty. given the tread i used up (they had 7/16
left) i paid $170 for four brand new tires. felt like a good deal
to me.

their tech noticed almost gone left rear brake pads, while
the right had 30% left. they recommended that i get them all done
including new calipers. i held off, waiting to see what the list
says. he said that the calipers are part of their regular service
anyway, but that i should do them because there is something wrong
that caused this set of pads to wear too fast. what say y'all? i
need an alignment anyway... but can't i just put new pads in (oh,
and what is a good pad to use??) and not worry about a rebuild? if
it does need a rebuild, isn't there some kind of problem with the
setup that might be covered under warranty (i have a 7/75 or something
on the car, i paid extra for it).

oh wise list, stoke me with your knowledge!
