... I probably should do these on my car while it is in the garage ...
otherwise it would be likely to happen while out on the road ... right when
I'm attempting a WOT application ...
When I did the job on my old 4kQ ... in a parking lot out in the middle of
San Jose ... I noticed that the rod that goes through the center of the
bobbin appeared to be set up for a snap ring. It is my intention to use a
fender washer and snap ring to constrain the bobbin a bit more ... probably
reducing the effect of a failure to be one of odd response to throttle
input. Of course when you've fixed the problem in a parking lot and know
the bobbin is likely to last longer than you will own the car the motivation
to squeeze back up in there in low.
When I did this I actually released the throttle cable from the TB so that I
could get more play with the cable ... but no matter what the accelerator
pedal is pretty restrictive ...
