I don't dispute the fact that the vacuum upgrade works
and Martin and Craig certainly put the "upgrade" through
a strenuous (daily) test procedure.
I will probably be going this way myself.
But, wouldn't it be, eh, in Audi's interest to encourage
owners to keep some of these cars stock? Well maybe not encourage,
but at least make it possible so they don't sell their ur-q
and buy an M3..... Who in there right mind is going to spend a
significant percentage of their cars value on one hydraulic part?
Jon was it you :^)
And equally, in such a litigious continent what are the risks....
Yes, all my cars use only OEM equipment, well maybe in my
bank managers dreams.....

I thought I'd throw my 0.02 cents in here.
I've been to 2 ice racing events with my car since the turbo upgrade in my 4000q. Now I realize that the brakes weren't
used really hard, but I've had no vacuum assist problems so far. I even managed to give myself a scare
a month or so ago when I was doing some spirited driving. I managed to lock the front wheels up completely at 120 kph
in the dry.(not recommended). I'm running a 5 bolt conversion and G60 front brakes, so I personally see no problems for you urq guys even running at higher boost levels. You may run into problems at the track, but more likely due to overheating the brakes than vacuum assist problems.
I'm currently in the process of a complete 84 urq restoration with AAN engine going in, and I'll definitely be dumping the
bomb and all that other hardware.Besides it make for an excuse to shed some weight from an already front heavy car.
Cheers,
Craig Cook.
