Two New Years revelations. One great, one merely a revelation.
A local Pert Stop is selling 93.5 octane premium gas for $1.56 a gallon. Up
to now 91 was the order of the day and ranged in price from $1.65 to almost
$2.00 depending on the season.
Number 2 is not near so exciting, but interesting. While replacing the valve
cover gasket on the 98 A6 I found that all the vacuum tubing was far more
brittle, cracked (and leaking), than all the same original material on the URQ, 15
years its senior. Has the material selection comrade in the hinterland been
listening to the bean-counters? Has anyone else found this on later model cars?
