I have Konis in my '85 with H&Rs and do not like them one bit.
When I got them initially they were set full hard...
Needless to say they destroyed a set of strut bearings and put a lot of stress on the shock tower to inner fender joint (I see a split in the PCV undercoating)!!!
Turned them full soft (which requires strut dissassembly) and they are still a harsh but no real control on rebound....
I had a a pleasure to be in Ralf W's '84 with stock springs and Billies and just loved it... Next upgrade (after the 944t intercooler ;) will be a set of Bilsteins.

>I have a 4kq with Bilstein Sports and an Ur-Q with Konis. Both ride on H&R springs. As I believe has been mentioned here before by others, the Konis seem a bit harsher than the Bilsteins. I tend to prefer the smoother ride over bumps with the Bilsteins in the 4kq, but both cars handle quite well and are very similar.
