[urq] Anybody know where a guy can get a rim fixed on the eastcoast?....

The process is common, and yes, most aluminum wheels can be repaired. In
the back of Autoweek is a place in Newton MA called Rim & Wheel Works. 285
Newtonville Ave. (800) 261-0495
I've never used them, but they're in the neighborhood. If you end up using
them, I'd love to know how it works out, 'cause I'm in MA too.

I made this a whole-list reply because I have a little experience with this,
and a few words of warning. I had a set of wheels straightened and
repainted several years ago, and was disappointed with the results. 1) the
paint (most all silver colored alloys are painted silver) was nowhere near a
match for the OE paint. Good thing I did all four. If you do one only,
you're going to want to make sure they can match the others, use OE paint,
etc., etc. 2) My guys only painted the part of the wheel you can see. The
backside was stripped, cleaned, etc., but not refinished in any way. Good
idea to ask them about this kind of stuff before having the work done.

Anyway ... good luck.
John

> Yeah last Saturday I scrapped my passenger's side rear rim on a curd you
could play hand ball against. The local D & D parking lot is kind of a PITA
to get into because its so busy at night. Sure as Shite I tagged the corner
and put a nice canyon in the lip. People are telling me it can be fixed
because it's Aluminum. Is this true? If so where? Mike
