... thanks Mike!  Yes, indeed you are correct, and I had actually intended
to mention that I was going to do exactly that ... I always read the manual
before actually beginning ... I just haven't had a chance to get at the
reference over the weekend ... 

... the interesting thing about going about the task from underneath is that
it might well allow me to use my new "motorcycle lift" instead of having to
wrangle a cherry picker into place ... and it most certainly eliminates the
worries about the downpipe ...
