There is a difference in flange size.
Later 4kqs had smaller flanges, same size as front 4kq... BTDT on my 5 bolt
swap...

Mounting for both (rubber mounts and locations) are the same.

I'm sure Martin can add to or offer corrections to this. I do not
believe you will have any problem with flanges as all 4KQ rear axles are
the same as those found on the urq. (use your Urq's hubs) The flange
Issue as I recall has only to do with the 4KQ transmission. In 84 and
early 85 they used the larger flange as on the urq and 5000tq. The issue
for you may be the need for a front axle set to match your transmission
flanges.

I also seem to recall that there is a mounting difference between the 84
4KQ and the later cars rear diffs. I think the 84 is closer to what the
83 Urq used as it had provision for rear sway bar.

Double check some of this as it has been a while and I'm running on
memory here.

Which 4kq rear diffs are the ones to use on a UrQ when swapping in a
200q20v transmission?  I've read on Martin's site that the 84 is the one
to
use, and other places that up to early 85's will work.  I've heard
someth.ing about a single piece housing versus a multiple piece housing.
Also something about CV drive flanges being different sizes.

Will all 4kq rear differentials work, or only the 84?  If only the 84,
why
not the others?
