[urq] Rad fan redux

Hey everyone,
I had an issue with my radiator fan not working, the fuse would blow
every time it would try to kick on. I replaced the fan with a known
good (thanks Rich) the other day and the same thing is happening.
I'm no expert at diagnosing electrical problems, but part of what
lead me to believe that the problem was actually in the fan was that
when I pulled the fan leads off the back of the unit and replaced the
fuse I would get a nice steady 8V on my multi-meter.
If I had a dead short somewhere in the circuit it would blow the fuse
whether it was hooked up to the fan or not right?
So I'll be trying to expose the wiring this weekend which will of
course mean taking a few things out of the engine bay. Are the
radiator fan relays all on the fuse block (mine is in the car under the
dash) or are a few of them hidden in other places?
Other than looking for obvious breaks in the wire insulation, does
anyone have any suggestions for tracing this thing down? I've got a
lot to learn about DC circuits yet. Thanks.
