P.S. Dropped a 1-1/16 3/4-inch drive impact socket, complete with 1/2-drive to 3/4-drive adaptor on my forehead just above my eyebrow. Got a nice 1/2-inch long cut parallel to my eyebrow. Sweeeeeeet. My first urq scar.

Subject: [urq] w/c turbo swap completed successfully
After a couple of full weekends and lots of help from my buddy Tim, my urq is now back together and running 15lbs of boost from a w/c K26.
Brandon got me started by supplying a used but useable oil-cooled K26. Then I found one on eBay that had recently been reworked and got it for about $125 shipped. It turned out to be water-cooled which prompted parts runs for w/c lines and such. Then at assembly the turbo turns out to have a Porsche 944 style center section where the oil ports are 90 degrees to the water ports.
Shift gears to raping Tim's MC motor (the one waiting to go into his 4kq). W/c K26 and single oil filter bracket go in with the only hitch being mating the WX oil cooler lines to the MC oil filter bracket. Found a local shop that fabbed some hydraulic fittings for about 20 bux. (M18x1.5 threads needed on both ends, one end straight parallel metric thread fitting, the other end a compression fitting).
Upon first start, the oil filter bracket leaked profusely. Removed, cleaned, cut a new gasket from blank stock, applied some blue silicone and reassembled. Voila, leak-free.
My car has had some ABT attention in it's past with ECU and knob. With "new" parts, still not seeing the boost that we felt we should. Corrected some frayed/cracked vacuum lines running to/from the knob and wastegate and voila, 15 psi.
These cars are quite the puzzle in the passenger side front corner.
