There's a check valve in the fuel distributor-could be leaking down making it
hard to start. Phil Payne has mentioned this before. The check valve also
has shims on it to set the fuel pressure. Replacement parts were something
like $50 for the parts.
That was one of my first instincts. Lower pressure = lower boiling point,
(hence cooling systems are pressurized). Rebuilt the plunger/valve and subbed a
known good unit all the while checking and trying different pressures. No joy.
Have the fuel pressure meticulously set to spec. and check it often. I'm
running out of possible suspects.
