[urq] Stebro Exhaust

The best Ur-q exhausts that I've found other than the factory units are the
ones which Roger Galvin has had built. Fully stainless, 3-piece (main pipe,
centre box & rear box), correct diameter pipe, correct slash cut tips.
The advantage over the factory unit is that the whole thing costs something
like GBP400 whereas a factory rear box doesn't leave much change from
GBP500.

The scorpion exhaust for the urq is the best in terms of fit and flow.
I have been trying to source one for a few months and believe martin's
statement to be correct. My friend is working on finding some existing
units in Europe. For whatever reason, maybe the weakening of the $ any
scorpion units have gone up in price considerably. I would be willing
to try to arrange a group purchase from scorpion to get them to do
another manufacturing run. This would be a cat (testpipe) back system
with the single wall angled cut rear like the factory unit. (most of
the units they made for our vehicle had a rolled section on the very end
that was straight and it looks kinda goofy). Of course this would be
stainless. I also could use the resource of my friends shop if they
don't want to deal with a non registered auto whatever......
Let me know off list if anyone is interested. We would be targeting a
price around $800 but won't know until we ask. If this fails I may
have to bite the bullet and go factory doh!!........off to get the
welder to try to get the current exhaust in shape enough to make it to
the UPG meeting in may!!
Ps- the two bad ass "custom" exhaust shops in my area both said the
wouldn't even try to fab a unit for the urq based on all other audi fit
nightmares and failures they had.

I gotta chime in on this. After breaking my exhaust pretty much in
half, then incurring more damage to it as a result, I've done quite a
bit of research on this. The only pre-made 3" mandrel bent system I can
find is from 2B for $1400. I'm really not interested in paying $1400.
So I did a little more looking around. If one pieces it all together
oneself, I believe one can replace their exhaust, from the bottom of the
downpipe back, for about $800. This includes a new cat, center
resonator, new rear muffler, and tip. This is 100% 304 SS, 100% 3", and
100% mandrel bent. I haven't gone out and taken any measurements yet,
so this price maybe be a bit high or low. Basically it depends on
exactly how long the exhaust really is and how many bends of varying
severity there are. Some day soon I'll go out with a tape measure and a
protractor and get some harder numbers. Anyway, that's the short
version. If there's demand for the long version, I'll post that as
well.
-Cheers!
