As colors go, I wanted a red Urq bad. I think it's because red paint in any form (Mars, Guards, Ferrari etc.) was the most popular color for a sports car back in the 80's. I mean take a look at any ad in any of the car magazines back in the eighties and 9-out-of-10 the car depicted was red. A couple of stand outs are , of course the Alpine stereo ads with the red Lamborghini. BF Goodrich used a red Porsche 911 and 944 in there ads at one time. When the C4 Corvette debuted in 1984 almost every ad had it in red. And a lot of the cars tested back then were red as well. It was just the hot color i guess. Much the way forest green was the hot color in the 90's.
My Urq is Ebony black. The funny thing is, as I was doing research on the Urq, i downloaded a pic from Martin's website of a black Euro-spec Urq on R8 8". I typed the word "goal" in the upper left corner of the pic and printed it on nice photo paper. I framed it and hung it on my wall in front of my computer. Over the next year I looked at two Mars red urqs, a white one and a Gobi with my daily reminder hanging on the wall in front of me. Well To make a long story short I found an Urq in the next town over from me and low-and-behold it's black!! Just a coincidence I guess, or it could be something more magical. Maybe I should download a pic of a Sporty Q from Martin's website and see what happens : ) Mike C
