I've recently done all the strut beaings on my car. Take the whole strut
asembly off. On my '84, no spring compressor was needed, surprisingly.
Once the top castle nut got to the end of the shaft, there was no tension on
the coil spring. NOTE***** I'm pretty sure this is not true on '83s. Do
not take my word for it Don't assume this is the case with yours-even if you
have an '84.****
There are lots strut bearing out there. Make sure you got the right ones.
The urq ones are heavier duty and offer correct ride height.
