Great news!

The seal on your link is 122mmx72mmx12/13 mm, which is on par with what I
saw under my car.
Now, I guess this is the 017 525 400A equivalent, which looks like it
supercedes 857 525 400A. Will give it a try fer sur....

In fact, I don't have much choice: lister-recommended
www.VMAutohaus-dot-com (of British Columbia, Canada) just sent me this
reply to my inquiry for the later:

So for 12$, I will order one and "practice" on one of the two or three 4KQ
rear diffs that Brady's got in its basement... Brady?

a little less pissed-off today...

Re: Diff seal source ?

As far as I know this seal should work:
http://oem.thepartsbin.com/parts/thepartsbin/quote.jsp?make=AU&year=1989&product=J1152-38159&application=000264586&part=Drive%20Axle%20Seal&category=All

It's listed for an '89 90q, but I just had both diff casing side by side
swapping parts in the garage a couple weeks ago as I was putting a
torsen diff in the rear of my car. All 3 diffs I had ('89 90q, 86 4kq,
91 v8q) had the same outer seal dimensions, and the 4kq and 90q inner
dimensions were the same (as far as I could tell). I had to swap seals
from the v8q unit into the 4kq box so the inner diameter seal would fit
up to the torsen diff in there now.

No guarantees, as I didn't try this exact combo, but it looked right....
:-/ Measure first before you order.
