You are right, it is critical to have sufficient fuel to run high boost.  My WX powered car has a K-basic CIS system modified by Lehmann with a different fuel distributor and air flow meter, and the control pressure regulator has been re-plumbed to enrich under boost.  Additionally, a J&S knock sensor pulls back timing when needed, and an onboard air/fuel mixture meter monitors system activity.  Without fuel system upgrades or a knock sensor, approximately 15 to 16 psi should be your limit on a WX motor, depending on the chip in your ECU.

What sort of mods do you guys have that allows 18-20 psi boost?
I have a cam and turbo upgrade, and still worry at 16 about knock and  
leaning out. What secrets have you uncovered?
