[urq] My troubles with Stebro continue

Stebro used to be an excellent product back in the 70's... I had a muffler
on my 1980 Scirocco that has outlived 4 different cars, sounded great,
looked even better and was made with quality written all over it.... then
the company dissapeared, no more ads in Road&Track or Car&Driver etc. etc.
Back around 1995 I got a call to see if I was willing to supply my stock 4kq
system to make a jig for their new quattro systems... somehow I never took
the opportunity but was told that Stebro is back in business...
I was looking forward to see if the new product is as good as the old school
stuff... I was very dissapointed when one of my friends bought the system
shortly after.
What I disliked most about the "New" Stebro products is the fact that they
crush bend the piping...
Sure it's SS, but not having nice 2.5" bends means that this unit will
probably not flow as good as the factory piece.
Fit and finish were also questionable... so I never bothered looking more
into it.
I do love that European piece... workmanship is great and can't beat the
price... I saw few examples at this years UPG.
I just wish they made it in 3"... :(
Cheers

Personally, I dont see why people arent buying the bloody hell out of these:

Another long term lister has one of these and raved of the quality of the
piece.
I have a Stebro on my car, its ok, the fit and finish was better than I had
heard prior to owning it. I didnt have any business dealings with them
though.
I recently removed the center section and CAT and had a custom piece fitted,
I can remove it once a year and get it E-tested and swap it again.
Personally the Stebro was way too quiet for my liking which was a major
factor in having the center section removed.
the rear box sounds quite nice uncorked though ;O}
