Mike, you owe me 10$...

I went to Radio Shack and bought some 12V red leds plus some sockets. Your
idea was nice and I too want to have red lighting in the early-Coupe
gauges I want to install.
Result: the 12V LEDs are way too weak to do any lighting task. Maybe they
will see duty as the diff lock warning lights, that's all they can do.
If you want to replace the 18$ bulbs in your clusters, you'll need
hi-intensity white 12V LEDs. I guess these would work better.
Thinking of it, I can easily test these too: I have a white LED
mini-flashlight, I'll just have to aim the beam in place of the lens-type
bulb and see the results...
Wait until tomorrow.

That will be 20$. Thank you.

Cheers!

Louis-Alain

[urq] Bulbs for Illuminating the Instrument Cluster

Folks has anyone tried replacing the two bulbs that
illuminate the instrument cluster with 12V LEDs? I currently
have one of the lens type bulbs and one of the non-lense type
bulbs which gives un-even illumination.

I was thinking about using red LEDs, any BTDTs?

Cheers, Mike
