Recently I put up a posting relaying my problems with my poor starting WR. Several of you replied for which I am grateful.
I have no checked the following:
Wiring to the cold start valve
Wiring to the Thermo-time switch
Fuel delivery to CSV
no leaks from CSV
I changed the Thermo-time switch for one for a coupe quattro (15 degrees for 8 seconds rather than 35 degrees for 8 seconds) It was all I had to hand.

Now I understand from this that the one I put in will only work when it is under 15 degrees C and then for a max of 8 seconds. Well luck for me it was a cold day (11 degrees) so it should have worked and may well have done but it made no difference to the starting performance.
I have since read that the auxillary air valve if staying closed will give the same symtoms as I am getting. i,e, car won't start without foot flat to floor. I have read how to check this but what I want to know is: whan the valve is open, how open is it? Should you be able to see a completely open aperture or just a 1/4 segment?

Cheers

Keith
