MyQuattro news.
Found the problem with the whiney noise, it was indeed the check valve,
turned out to be a bad connection. I'll throw a ziptie on there if it
comes back. Thanks to whomever suggested that!
#2, i dug through the console area, and besides finding that NOTHING
was screwed down, my diff locks, which I was told were working, are
completely disconnected. It appears as if the vacuum setup is
complete, however. The vacuum setup for the pullswitch is complete,
and makes a fwooshy noise when I pull on it. My question is, how do I
retrofit this to a late model switch panel? It's got six inputs, and a
rotary switch. Should I just put the old panel back in? It's not like
the gauges do anything...and I don't know how to correct that either.
How do I know when the diffs are engaged? Where are the locations on
the switch to lock one diff versus both? IE, do I pull it out halfway,
then all the way, or neither...or what? How does it work on the
original car?
PS my fusebox is under the dash, from what I can tell. The battery
light issue almost seems to have corrected itself. I'm a little
disappointed in the previous owner's description of the condition of
the car...i was under the impression most of these things were taken
care of. c'est la vie, at least I'm learning all about audi. He did
include the bentley manual and microfiche, whatever that is. Hooray
for reading material!
All for now,
-Andrew
