Bill,
I think you missed my point. You may be right about warpage not being
application specific, ie., all models have problems. In as much as warpage
is caused by heat, or lack of ability to adequately shed heat. I proposed
using a 312mm rotors, designed, (you say poorly) to shed heat generated in
stopping ~4000lb car, on a car only weighing ~3,200lbs. This should provide
marked improvement in heat dissapationability over stock ~276mm. I assume
when you say "they make rotors out of soft metal..." You mean factory apps.
If you add in a quality Brembo or Zimmerman on top of the larger rotors I
would assume warpage would be minimized if not eliminated.

Mike, the brake wear and warpage problem is not isolated to one chassis A-4,
A-6 or A-8 even with the huge 4 brake pad per side system on A-6 4.2 or the
S-4, A-8 just more dollars for repair, and it is not just Audi, it is
MickieBenZ, BumMerW, VW, Slabb, umm, Volvo It seems like they are so
concerned about noise, they make the rotors out of soft metal. shoot even
rear rotor warpage is common on the above at 50,000 miles, and you do not
fix a warped rotor, you replace it. Bill
