I'm just back from my dealer: in addition to the swaybar bracket (36$), I
ordered a complete set of bushings for both subframes.
And because I didn't had another source, I didn't bother to ask for their
price. I told myself: "I guess they will cost me about 30$ each, so 240$
is "not that much" to get rid of the harshness I feel since I bought the
car...".

Yikes!

Reality bites.:
Front subframe
        - front bushings: 857 199 415B, 40.32 each
        - rear bushings: 857 199 419B, 105.65 each !!!!!!!
Rear subframe
        - Front bushings: 857 199 419C, 83.22 each !!!!!!!!
        - Rear bushings: 857 199 415B, 40.32 each
Total: 540$.!!!
These are only standard metal-rubber bushings, not liquid filled
electronic engine mounts, ferkrissake!
Maybe using bushings from the lesser 4KQ would cost me less (I can get
these thru my FLAPS), but I am affraid of the "feeling" of the chassis
with these softer units...
Oh well...
Since I will only replaced them once in the car's life, better do it the
way Audi did in 1982.

Now, for the job itself.
The bolts are fine, I re-torqued them all last week so no captive nut
spinning.

As for the removal-reinstallaiton: Can I do it myself with a home-made
tool like HUw's ? (http://www.humanspeakers.com/audi/bushings-pix2.htm)

Or is it a job that request a true press in expert hands?

You won't blame me for trying to save a buck or two...

TIA,

Louis-Alain
