Lino,

You are correct, I don't think VIN has much to do with it... even though it's a great guide, you need to 100% make sure which style of suspension your car actually has...
It's rather easy, if your car has a stock rear sway bar and inboard tie rods (as opposed to attached to the outside of subframe) you have an older system.
Even though your car may have an early VIN the previous owner might have changed it, for whatever reason.
