[urq] Fuel vapors smell

Yes they were the green Viton ones, but I am wondering if I might not
actually have two different injectors. When I pulled one of the suspect
injectors, the injector came out and the o-ring was left in the seat.

Dealer gave me 2 new ones, but they wiggled too. The other injectors don't
wiggle. I checked the seats and there was nothing strange - clean, smooth
and free of debris.

Can someone check if the injectors for the '83 or '84 CGT are the same?

Ben,
I think there were two different injectors (and maybe injectors seats?).
Unfortunately I don't have Etka handy..... Were they the green viton
ones?

They shouldn't wiggle and yes the injector retainer is a good upgrade.

Cheers, Mike

I just replaced these. A couple still "wiggle" a little in their seats,
which is still suspect. I put some gasket seal on them and fitted an
injector retainer from a CGT - trick, as I had to make it fit under the
injector cooler "vacuum cleaner".

Are there two or more different size O-rings. I got these from local
dealer, but he did not check for the application.

Ben,
You might want to look at the fuel injector o-rings, cheap and easy to
replace. The originals harden over time.

I have been trying to track down the source of fuel vapors getting into
the cabin since I got this car. I have replace numerous lines,
including the ones at the tank, but still keep getting fuel vapors in
the car. The phenomenon seem to happen mostly upon high boost
conditions - that is I notice the smell after hard acceleration.

As I have been replacing all my vacuum lines, and checked thoroughly for
fuel leaks in the hard lines and not detected any leaks.

Before i replaced the rear lines, the smell seemed to be coming from the
trunk. Now it seems to eminate from the right front of the car/glovebox
area, but those hard lines are solid.

Is it possible that this has something to do with the carbon canister?

Also, where is the PCV valve that is supposedly on this car - '83 Ur
Quattro early VIN.

Ben
