Piece is only as long as the door?: [urq] Rocker panel part number

Here are a couple of photos. They measure ~43 5/8" Front of car would be
left or top respectively. If you have rust, I'd be concerned that there
could be significant rust inside. Does anyone know if Audi filled these
with wax?

The other pieces are the inner side members still taped together.

I looked at the FA and my car and I'm guessing this
857 803 761 piece is approx the length of the door and
is not a sill piece that extends all the way to the
rear wheel opening.  My car seems to have most of it's
rust right at the joint in the sill just below the
rear edge of the door.  SO for me I'm better off just
having new metal patched in rather than buying this
piece new - right?  I was considering buying the piece
but now I think it would be a mistake.
