Many thanks to all who replied to my request below.
I followed up Ingo's lead to a hub up for auction on Ebay. I won the auction
and am awaiting arrival of the hub and will post results. As some said it
will fit and others that it will fit with re- drilling, we'll have to wait
and see.

With regard to John Chaplens cut out at high boost - A mate of mine with
a1984 WR had a similar symptom. Cut out under load which got worse and
occurred lower down the rev range as time went on. The cure was a new hall
sender in the distributor. The misfire was violent but brief each time it
occurred but steadily occurred more often untill cured.
I hope this helps, but John, you must not give up.

Any one know a source (in UK preferably) for the hub/adapter for a three
spoke  Audi Sport steering wheel (made by Personal) to fit a WR quattro?
It's the sort fitted to the 20v qyattros and Series 3 80 Sports and RS2s.
If you know the Personal part number then that would be even better.
