THat's a good point. But I think all that really goes through the 'load
reduction circuit' is things like the power windows, and perhaps the
headlights, it shodl be easy enough to remember just to njot have them on
when starting. One hopes!
I've had my urq wired with a big red 'start' button for a few days. I was
visiting an friend's shop one day, and the whole ignition switch melted.
All the connectors seemed to melt together. The motor was running, and so was
the starter. And I couldn't turn anything off! Quickly ripping up the back
seat, and pulling the ground off the battery shut it all down.
So, a melted ignition switch on a Sunday afternoon. What to do?
Wired up a toggle switch for the ignition, and a big red pushbutton on a long
bit of wire. Good to go 'till I got a new ign switch. Kind of fun too,
pushing the big red button to start!
(Apparently an old model Rabbit ignition switch works just as well, but is
significantly less expensive! Some of the 'different' pins on the urq switch
aren't present, but they weren't even used on my urq anyway..)
