IMO, pissing him off will not benefit you. I would go in, sit down, and
have a nice, calm yet serious talk with him and remind him that you need the
car by the weekend prior to UPG. That way if he runs past a couple days
you're OK still. I would find out why there has been the big delay - and
talk about what he will do to get the car done. Let him know that yes you
know he messed up and up to now its OK - but now he really needs to finish
the car and get it out of there.
FWIW when I had my car painted in '99, I used to drop by every week to take
pics. I usually brought a case of cold beer, too. The guys were pretty
appreciative...
