Sounds like you both picked the wrong shop.  For folks willing to go to 
Boston I can recommend a mainly collision shop who will gladly do your 
repaint/resto as long as you have some flexability time wise.  If you go 
with an UrQ he will know who sent you.  He has done my UrQ and my previous 
Corvette and some collision in between.

Unfortunately, no autobody shops want to deal with restoration work.
I brought my car to a guy last October and took it back in March when
he had not even touched the car except where his plow contacted the rear
quarter panel.
I brought it to another guy who has done a lot of work on the car, but he
has stalled over the summer.

There is no chance that my car will be ready for UPG this year, hopefully
next year.
