[urq] Airboxes

Sorry about not including the entire story, but thought because I posted
to the UrQ list that would explain the basics. I want to see pictures
and BTDT on anyone that's installed RR or RS2 airboxes? I also
understand they are very different.

I've got an 83 UrQ, converting with a 93-ANN in pretty much stock trim
starting off with RS2 IM and EM and the K-24. After I get all the
gremlins in their place I'll switch to the RS2 Turbo, injectors, MAF, 7A
exhaust cam, and software.
Initially I'm just trying to make the Portland Audi track day in
November. If the airbox gets in the way and for some reason this is the
stumbling block I'll just run with a K&N cone and no airbox, however as
I requested I'd love to see something in addition to a front of the car
view down towards the airbox/Turbo/wastegate of both the RR and a RS2
airbox, and more specifically some serious BTDT on the install.

What I'm trying to accomplish is use an airbox and a stock type filter.
Appreciate there are lots of K&Ns in use, not meaning to say they aren't
capable of being used. I would prefer to use an airbox.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish ?? do you have a 3b ? I
thought javad showed the stock 3b intake system with a k&n is good for
over 500hp. I've run a k&n in stock airboxes in my wx urq and 200 20vt
(3b) for hundreds of thousands of miles with no problems....both are
chipped

Does anyone have any images of the RR and RS2 airbox installed from all
angles, not just a standard front overhead, and more importantly the
procedure to do so?

I've got, courtesy of Rich Letsinger, a brand new RS2 box. Seeing all
these discussions on the RR box and the amount of space the RS2 takes up
in an already very crowded compartment. I'm curious as to if my decision
to use the RS2 box is the right one. I know Rich just uses a K&N cone
filter on a car that's primarily used on the track, and I've seen all
the conversations regarding the K&N filters and MAFs. I know some folks
use a K&N inside of the airbox.

Is someone considering making a custom airbox to be able to use some off
the shelf filter behind the headlights and grille?

Rich sounds like you're doing a RR type box which I've never really seen
how it goes into the fender. By the way, great to have seen you at ALMS.
Your group looked like you had a great time, as always!
