I agree a clean and leak-free engine is a start toward getting rid of an oily smell in the cabin.
Another thing to check on might be the condition of your trunk lid seal. As I'm sure you're aware, the flat rear end of our cars creates a nice low pressure area that draws airflow/moisture/stank that just passed under the car up and over it and in through rotten rubber seals. I had a 5kq a few years ago that did this and gave me a tummy ache on long trips. Billy Ray Bob Bennett suggested at the time that running the vent fan to suck in fresh air would pressurize the cabin and reduce inflow from leaky rubber seals. It seemed to help; might help you as an interim solution.
