It gets worse Brandon. I remember speaking with Ned back in the early '90's about my direct experiences with racing and modifying dodge turbos back in the mid 80's. Attached to my 12K USD Dodge GLH turbo in 1985 was a motronic box that didn't come to the audi until 1992 S4. Although it used a single coil activation, the GLH turbo had a ten second overboost mode in stock trim (9psi OB, 7 steady state), knock sensor retard. Mopar Performance also delivered a modified box that would hit 14-15psi OB based on knock only, and a 12psi steady state. All with NO intercooler and dual bosch fuel pumps from the factory.

Somewhere in my library I have the exact introduction INV number and Rally of the A2 using Motronic. I'm sure based on memory, that Audi was testing Motronic systems pretty early in the game, since the Audisport Bosch and Pierburg CIS were plagued with problems from Day 1 of WRC. I will say too, that Audisport kept that basic mistrust of fueling systems right thru motronic EFI systems. Even the 95 Group A S2 had quick release dual fuel pumps mounted on a board under the rear hatch, with quick switch capability of all lines to a fro.

If one looks closely at the rally results of the A1 and early A2 chassis in WRC, it sure seems apparent that CIS was one of (if not) the primary causes of Audisports rather disappointing results following early commanding leads. I go further and propose, you might have even seen Mouton beat Rohrl for Drivers Championship in '83 if fueling wasn't an issue in the A cars
