Another (so far not mentioned) spark killer if absent is the flywheel TDC
sensor. If the sensor malfunctions or doesn't have good contact- no  spark.
Don't ask about the long painful road that proved that one >>>>>to  me.

 Same thing happened to me. TDC sensor was dead. I learned from the
collective wisdom of this list that the ECU will throw one spark
intermittantly to check the system by itself, or something to that extent.
 The procdure for checking this is in the aforementioned IST documents.
