I had the same problem... turned out to be a bad connection at the
alternator (corroded).
Once I cleaned it up, the faint alt. light went away.

Subject: [urq] Instrument Cluster Question

Yesterday, I started the UrQ for a little while to get the fluids flowing
and
take her out for a little leg stretch. I noticed that when I turn the turn
signal on, the battery light comes on alternating with the signal light
(indication on the cluster) I do not remember this happening before. Any
insight? I
keep the battery disconnected while I have her in storage (limited winter
use)
She started right up almost as soon as I turned the key to the start
position,
so the battery isn't undercharged. I didn't have any time to trouble shoot.
Now I'm back in DC for work, waiting for my next rotating weekend to roll
around.....
