Hi Jim,

Had this on my car only more extreme. The idle was varying with the turn
signals and I couldn't exceed 3000 rpm with the headlights on! Spent about
3 weeks sorting out the wiring and wrote a couple of posts on the
subject. Even after this, I still had a faint alt. light at
times. Careful voltage measurements showed that the voltage coming from
the "61" terminal was higher than the power at the instrument cluster. In
other words, a small reverse current was causing the bulb to glow dimly. A
3 amp diode placed in series after the alt. light solved the problem
completely. Electrical system is very reliable now (fingers crossed!) and
I haven't put in the fuel pump relay mod yet.

If you'd like to see the what I went through to shut off the alt. light, I
can dig up the post and send it to you.

Regards,

-Tony
